5 Products in Your Kitchen That Will Enhance Your Look

Walk through a drug, department or discount store and you may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of products available to improve your beauty. Makeup, skin cream, soaps, hair treatments, pills and other products are all sold with the sole purpose of helping people feel more attractive and confident.

While you may have a few particular products that you strongly feel must be part of your beauty regimen, others may not be anything too special. Next time you find yourself lamenting over your beauty supply budget, consider substituting one of these products that you may already have in your kitchen!

  • Skin Brightening with a Potato – If your skin is feeling dull and dry, wash it well and then use a skin brighter. No, not one of those expensive creams you find for sale at the department store, instead use a potato. Cut a raw potato in half and gently rub it over your face. It will feel brighter and fresher.
  • Sugar Scrub – Mix brown sugar and oil (olive or coconut oil is a great choice) to use as a sugar scrub on your feet or your legs after shaving. You’ll be impressed by how soft they feel. You can add essential oils for a fragrant, spa-like experience.
  • Olive Oil Makeup Remover – Instead of paying for expensive eye makeup remover, just soak a cotton ball in olive oil and use that. Let the oil soak in just a bit and then your eye makeup will easily wipe away.
  • Lemon for Your Nails – If your nails are looking yellow or dingy, rub a cut lemon on the nails and cuticles. This will lighten any stains and help your nails look beautiful. This is a perfect step to take when doing at-home manicures or pedicures.
  • Baking Soda Dermabrasion – Professional microdermabrasion can be very expensive and even the creams are quite pricy. Make a paste of baking soda and water and gently rub it on your rough spots. This can help remove dead skin and help your skin look and feel soft and silky.

As you can see, there are plenty of kitchen products that are “double agents” and can be used as you care for your skin, hair and nails. Before you spend money on that fancy new product, why not look through your cabinets and see if there is a way you can save a few bucks while still helping you look your very best.
